The ripple effect is often used colloquially to mean a multiplicative effect. Unlike the domino effect which only serves one direction, wave propagation is more complex. In physics, the Huygen-Fresnel principle states that every point on a wave front is itself the source of spherical wavelets, these mutually interfere and form a new wavefront.
In sociology, the ripple effect can be observed in how individual interactions can affect the overall system dynamics, often times reorganizing it into a "new normal". Information, and therefore behavior, can be both quickly and slowly spread, from individual to individual and community to community, broadening its impact like a wave in the far field limit as well as its close surroundings, causing both globalization and segregation. Our event will cover a variety of topics which currently affects or begins to reach our local and global community from very diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
We are honored to bring back to Delray Beach TEDx Talks, an annual event where local heroes, hidden talent, community advocates, innovators, scientists, artists, industry experts, and athletes get together to inform, share perspectives, connect and inspire you.
